What You Should Know To Protect Ears With Headphones
Headphones or earphones are rapidly becoming essential add-ons for the numerous electronic gadgets that have flooded the market from phones to media players and from personal computers to palmtops. Those who are regular users of headphones are often inclined to use it for pretty long hours. It is possible for temporary or permanent hearing impairment to occur to those who use headphones at high volume. There is a tendency to increase the volume of the headphone to drown out the outside noise such as traffic, large noisy crowds, subway, or aircraft. At higher volume, the normal pain that is associated with high volume disappears. The ear could be damaged with long hours of high volume sound through the headphones. An estimated 5 percent of headphone users are expected to face such problems. The suggestion to provide some form of warning to users to limit the volume of headphone has not been received well by the listeners. No such safety precautions have been made mandatory for the products sold in the market.
Risk to hearing impairment is lower with in-ear headphones as well as canalphones. External noise is blocked in this type of headphones with its noise isolation properties of the on-ear seal. The need to increase the volume to drown external noise does not arise. Restrictions have been placed in some countries on using headphones while driving vehicles and this may include earphones in one ear. With headphones on, the drivers of vehicles could miss out hearing critical external sound as car horn, and may lose the sense of awareness of the surroundings. This increases the risk of accidents. It is necessary that one keeps the earphone at a low volume or not use it at all during other activities that require one to do so.
There are many companies manufacturing a variety of headphones for professionals, DJs, and Call Centers headsets in a variety of models. Monster moves beyond Beats with three new headphone partnerships (Albuquerque Journal)
LAS VEGAS--Monster's collaboration with Dr. Dre for his Beats line of
headphones and speakers has seemingly been fruitful for the company. And if
one partnership did well, why not add a few more to the mix?

To that end, Monster has teamed up with music producer J.Y. Park, fashion
brand Diesel, and Radio Shack for three new lines of headphones.
Pictured above are the Diamond Tears-Edge High Definition Music Headphones
born from an alliance with J.Y. Park, founder of JYP Entertainment (JYPE). The
new headphones by Monster get the same audio engineering that made its Beats
line popular, but with a jewelry-like design to appeal to "younger consumers."
They'll be available the first quarter of 2012 for $279.95, with a new in-ear
version scheduled to be available in the latter half of 2012.
Then for athletes, there are the new Monster iSport Livestrong Edition
headphones. Available at Radio Shack come February for $179.95, the headphones
feature a proprietary in-ear clip anchor system designed to securely fit your
inner ear. (If you're really anti-Radio Shack for some reason, they'll be
rolled out to other re... [Read more]
