sure can most people will tell you to go with a 350. it may be easier but there a lot out there for 305 just to work harder to find the parts. 305 has a 350 stroke just a smaller bore summit racing has forged pistons for most ever thing will carie over from a 350. with head you stuck with smaller heads there aftermarket head for the 305 and or just get the stock heads reworked are really good to.
I built a 305 that ran 461 hp with 380 ft lb or tork for around 3500$ a 350 will run about the same price.
