Singing audition tips

When choosing songs it's a lot more difficult to choose songs for auditions than choosing songs to practice with. When practicing, the idea is to expand your vocal technique and you do this by challenging yourself with songs with broad ranges. It's important to understand that audition songs should highlight your strengths and accomplishments.

The best scenario for your audition is to have one ballad and one song that is up-tempo.Within your choice of songs, you need a variety of stories, acting choices and range. There is no in between when it comes to ballads, either you hate them or love them. Those singers that only love up-tempos usually agonize over their choice of the ballad. When you choose a ballad, pick one that you can really relate to and the slow tempo areas will not seem so long. It's safe to say the hardest part of any audition is choosing the songs. The songs you choose should be songs that truly show off your talents. This artful skill takes time to develop, so keep looking at songs to continue expanding your book of songs.

Plenty of variety will be one of the most important aspects to consider when choosing your list of songs. A little variety gives you an opportunity to show off a well-balanced set of song skills. Why not start with some high notes in the first song and then try a belt song afterwards to show your versatility.

Showing off your strengths as a singer will be easy if you have more variety. Always make sure you search for songs that show off high notes once you've finished your belt song. Be sure to demonstrate your all the highest and lowest notes that feel comfortable to you. Mixing it up a bit and making sure you bring a different character to the audition is important.

At many musical theater auditions, you may be asked to sing a pop song, but to show a variety of song styles, you want to have early musical theater songs, later songs, and pop/rock songs, too. Don't fall into the trap of confining yourself to singing contemporary songs. That's a great start, but keep on looking for songs that are written in or are meant to portray an earlier time period.

At your audition, remember that they're looking at you from the minute you walk in the door and not just when you sing. You want to show your body and look great in your outfit. Take into account what the character looks like. One thing to remember is that while you do want to suggest the character of the songs you choose to sing, don't dress exactly like them. It also important to understand that you may not be offered the part straight away. You may end up with a second audition so do your best every time and you'll reap the benefits.

Songs (pop, alternative, or hip-hop) that fit my situation?

I like my guy friend a lot. He knows now, but hasn't admitted to liking me, so I don't think he does. I am trying to give up my crush on him, but I can't because I like him too much.

Does anyone have any pop, alternative, or hip-hop songs that will either help me be stronger and go through with giving him up? Or songs I can relate to with this situation?

Thanks in advance!
